Democratic Presidential Debate - CNN Arghh!

I cannot believe I was able to sit in front of the television this evening and slave through the Democratic Presidential Debate on CNN without throwing something at the 50 incher. I cannot tell you how frustrating at times it is to sit there and listen to politicians pontificate about issues that "face the nation," Thank you Wolf Blitzer, where CNN's political correspondents add topics onto the questions asked by a"neutral" crowd.

Questions were asked from former members of the armed services regarding the War on Terror and about Supreme Court Justices and their stance on Roe v. Wade. Why do we get bandied about like a bunch of school children? At least in school your subjects change as you ascend grades levels.

Being involved in the political process I guess jades you to this side of politics, but after awhile it just becomes totally disheartening. I think the federalist papers need to be rekindled and brought to the forefront once again in American politics. I think Benjamin Martin (a character in the movie The Patriot) said it right when advocating against a war with England when he said "why should I trade one tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants 1 mile away."

Modern politics has raised serious concerns regarding the state of our political system. A system that once stood for liberty and freedom has become a state of failed promises and double standards. The only opportunity is the opportunity that you make for yourself.

To be fair I have not chosen my candidate for President, Democrat or Republican, and I don't really like any of them. None of them give me any secure picture of what 10 years will look like for this country and more importantly...my family. I want to know that my children are going to be raised in a country where their education and well being is a top priority. Where the rule of law will always be regarded as next highest to the Lord our God.

We need a revolution. A revolution that reevaluates the nature of what it is this country stands for. Where are we going to leave our country 10 years from now...20 years from now. Give me a plan for the future...and I will consider your candidacy.

Bonds Indicted

After everything Major League Baseball has been through with Barry Bonds, could justice finally be served on baseball's most storied record?

As we all know Bonds broke the MLB homerun record this year and established a new era in baseball surrounded with steroids and HGH. Bonds protested his hall-of-fame bound ball being branded with an asterisk, and voiced his option to boycott the hall if said branded ball were to be displayed. Well perhaps we will not have to worry about the asterisk bleeding Bonds and the hall-of-fame. With the indictment of Bonds under counts of perjury and lying to a Federal Grand Jury, his future living arrangements might preclude him from such a post in baseball mortality.

Should he have come clean in the beginning when stories abounded about his use? In an ideal world this would have been the best scenario, but in a world usurped with greed and self promotion, he was interested in his career advancement and put himself above the game.

Feb. 5th Primary...Making California Less Relevant

This past February the Governor and Legislature spoke in favor of moving California's presidential primary from June to March to "make it more relevant" in deciding who the next president should be. The governor at the Capitol Press Club, stated that presidential candidates use California as a coffer stuffer rather than as a campaign stop to address California's issues.

Since the start of the political maneuvering, presidential candidates have spent little to no time in California addressing the issues and concerns of Californians. Instead they have, wait for it, spent time raising money to fill their campaign coffers. Exactly the opposite of what the Governor and Legislators stated would happen if they moved the primary to February.

Want to make California relevant in presidential politics? It's time to start a real discussion on election reform.

California currently has gerrymandered Congressional, State Senate, and State Assembly Districts. Democrats control both houses of the Legislature by significant majorities, making Republicans useless, except on 2/3 vote measures. Voter registration in both major political parties is declining and we are seeing major increases in Decline to State voter registration. All this goes to show exactly what the recently released Field Poll showed about Californians and their government; they are displeased.

If California wants to be relevant we need to have competitive legislative seats where legislators address the issues of their constituencies and not those of special interests. If Legislators continue to be immune to the voice of the people than we are in contradiction to the very core principles the founders had in mind when they outlined a separation of powers. Moving the presidential primary to February has done one thing...created financial havoc for the Secretary of State and County Election offices for adding a third election next year.

The Unwatched Series

The Associated Press reported on Saturday that the 2006 World Series received terrible viewership ratings. Does Major League Baseball need major market teams in the fall classic? Well according to that same article from the AP, the San Francisco Giants and Anaheim Angels World Series was watched a little more than the 06 World Series. The article stated that the high ratings could have been attributed to the fact that the 2002 World Series went to 7 games whereas, the 2004 and 2005 series' resulted in sweeps by their respective winners. For some strange reason, I sense a little bit of corruption and feel another thrown Black Socks World Series of 1918. Do you think that the President's of Fox and ESPN can engineer a World Series that will present two large market teams, thereby maximizing their viewership. Well if the 2007 classic pits the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers...we shall see...

"The care of every man's soul belongs to himself. But what if he neglect the care of it? Well what if he neglect the care of his health or his estate, which would more nearly relate to the state. Will the magistrate make a law that he not be poor or sick? Laws provide against injury from others; but not from ourselves. God himself will not save men against their wills." --Thomas Jefferson
